SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A San Francisco businessman jailed in Thailand was indicted in federal court here on three charges related to sex with children, the U.S. attorney's office announced Friday.

Thomas White, 68, was arrested in Thailand last year at the behest of Mexican officials, who accuse the financier of similar crimes and want him extradited to stand trial. White founded the brokerage firm Thomas White & Co. in 1978.

White owns homes in San Francisco, Thailand and Mexico. The federal indictment says White traveled many times to the homes outside Bangkok and near Puerto Vallarta to have sex with children.

He's also accused of traveling to Prague, Czech Republic, to produce child pornography, according to the U.S. attorney's office in San Francisco.

White is charged with two counts of conspiring to travel overseas with the intent to have sex with children and one count of conspiracy to sexually exploit children.

In addition, federal prosecutors want to seize his homes in Thailand and Mexico. Failing that, prosecutors will attempt to seize two properties White owns in San Francisco.
